Wed. 25 April, 2018.
When I was a young teen, I attended several sleep-overs where late at night some of the girls played the ‘parlour game’ Ouija.
Not me, as I was tucked into my sleeping bag trying to go to sleep. When they would encourage me to get up and join them, I would decline. One time I watched the first ten minutes of the proceedings but was considered a joykiller as I kept asking if it wasn’t their hands moving the game piece to get the answer they wanted.
I was sent back to my sleeping bag.
The second time this happened, I was in the state of nearly asleep when my friend Tiffany screamed, “Jenifer!! The Ouija board says you are going to die in your forties!”
“That’s nice, I am going to sleep.”
Fast forward to yesterday. My fiftieth birthday. As of today, I am officially completely out of my forties and am not going back.
Take that, Tiffany’s Ouija board!
p.s. Happy 15th Birthday to this Blog Today!

Mon. 11.07.16 – On the 7th of November in the year 2003, Mr. Scruffy-licious Alidocious T. McDoglet was born to a pedigreed Maltese family. Within two months, Scruffy – not his birth name – was denied access into the American Kennel Club for having more than the 3-4 regulation spots and hair too thin for a AKC Maltese, whereupon he departed and moved to California.
In March of 2004, Jenifer Hanen (me) and her brother, Joe, found Scruffy on Craigslist and within days he joined the family. Jenifer promptly bought Craig a Jack & Coke at 20×2 that year at SXSWi to thank him for starting a website that allowed her and her brother to get a great dog. Craig likes dogs and was happy that we got Scruffy on his List.
Happy Birthday to the best maltese dog on the planet… Scruffy McDoglet!
Fri 04.29.16 – Happy 13th Birthday to this blog a few days late! While I worked most of the evening of April 24th in 2003 to set this blog up on Movable Type, I was able to publish the first post just a few minutes after midnight.

In other news, the last 13 days:
April 15th – Tax day AND go to Chicago for super cool HERE Maps and Human Automated Driving demo day. Write up on the HERE day coming to a browser near you very soon.
April 17th – Ms. Jen moved away from Seal Beach for good, due to the damp/mold causing too many migraines and sinus headaches. Ms. Jen waves a fond goodbye to her fave little town by the sea with very good night star viewing. Ms. Jen does not wave a fond goodbye to the evil black mold that lived perniciously through out the town.
April 17th – May 17th – Ms. Jen sits on a house in West LA area whose inhabitants have buggered off to Europe for a month.
April 24th – Ms. Jen and this blog both have birthdays.
April 25th – 28th – Nokia Devices and Services finally is subsumed into Redmond’s Borg. Nokia HERE Maps and Nokia gets new CEOs.
April 26th – Real rain, yes – wet water, fell from the sky for a bit in the greater Los Angeles area. Followed by big wind and a nice chill.
Evening of April 28th – Ms. Jen still loves all of you. Ms. Jen does not love the Santa Ana winds that just started and the heat predicted for the next two days.
April 28th and forward – Ms. Jen is available for new career opportunities, esp. one that will include relocating and mobile.
