Sun. 08.26.18 – One week and one day ago, Miss Sweet Pea, the small dog formerly known as Cindy Lou Who, joined Casa de Mobile Hanen as the Dog in Residence.
So far, so very delightful. Miss Pea is approximately 8 or so years old (6-8 according to Dr. Kali), in her previous life before rescue she lived outside in a backyard somewhere in SoCal. She now lives inside with multiple walks a day.
Just yesterday she realized that chipmunks were prey and got SUPER EXCITED at every chipmunk movement, smell, and burrow. Walks are extra more anticipated now…

Tues. 08.14.18 – The great thing about the early evening sky this summer is that four of the five visible planets have been strung out like little jewels across the southeastern to western night sky: Mars, Saturn, Jupiter, and Venus. Here is a photo of Mars rising next to the Newland power plant.

Tues. 08.14.18 – While the true August new moon was on Saturday the 11th, this evening was the visible separating conjunction of Venus and the three day old moon. It was lovely.

Mon 10.14.16 – In going through my photos taken in October and November 2016 with my Nikon D800 and a Nikon 50mm f/1.4G lens, I have found a few gems to share with you all. This photo was taken on 10.06.16 just south of the Huntington Beach pier from the boardwalk on an evening where the colors of the sunset were fantastic, so I had to pull over while driving on PCH to go out and take photos.

Sun 11.13.16 – Late this afternoon, I drove down to the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve Station at the corner of Bolsa Chica Ave and Pacific Coast Highway to take photos of the Almost Super Moon as it rose in the late 4 o’clock hour. After all the photos were taken, I drove to the Huntington Cliffs parking lot at the top of Dog Beach to take photos of Mars, Venus, and Mercury in the last of the dusk. Afterwards, I walked Belle le Cane along the Cliffs. It was a lovely start to the evening.

Fri. 11.04.16 – In 2015, I ventured into the One Camera : One Lens photo project with my Nikon FM3a film camera and a Nikon AIS 50mm f/1.8 manual lens. I tried to use a new film every month, alternating black & white film with color, to explore all the 35mm film that is currently available for sale – either at my local Samy’s or online. I still had quite a few rolls of film leftover from the 2015 project and continued to shoot into 2016, albeit a bit slower.
To help with a time stamp & GPS, I take a photo with my camera phone each time I take a film photo. The above two photos were taken on February 3, 2016 in Havasu Heights, Arizona, of my favorite ocotillo. The photo on the left was taken with Ilford HP5 Plus 400 black & white film and the photo on the right is with my trusty Nokia 808 PureView camera phone.

Wed 07.20.16 – While it was very hot at the Huntington Library and Gardens today, it was still a very beautiful day, especially at the lily ponds.
